Tae Kim’s BB6 Prelude: Just BBeing Proper
Proper, clean and dope, are all common words thrown at cars today usually either overused or misused or even both. To find the true meaning for a “proper” or “clean” car you have to look at the details. No loud colors, no outlandish mods, or even so much camber that it looks like something might be broke. Well for Prelude enthusiasts they have a great example in Tae Kim’s BB6 Honda Prelude that has been built with patience and quality.
Tae’s Prelude isn’t just some build that was slapped together over night with some fancy parts. This build has been slowly pieced together over the past four years and is actually Tae’s very first car which remained pretty basic until he started running around with the likes of some of the Canibeat crew, where he caught a major mod bug. Originally his Prelude was a bit “riced out” and looked like it was sponsored by Auto Zone but luckily he came to his senses and started turning his BB6 into the classy machine it currently is.
On the exterior he has kept it clean and simple with the help of OEM and aftermarket parts that went with his clean theme. Bringing this chassis closer to the earth are Buddy Club Coilovers that are fitting a set of BBS LM’s with reverse faces. For most this would be enough and they would have called it a day but for Tae the real jaw-dropper starts when you open the doors.
After seeing a friend’s true EG6, Tae decided that his Prelude had to be converted to a RHD setup. With deciding this he knew that he wanted to do it right and he has done nothing but that. This BB6 features a SIR interior to really pull off that JDM RHD look. To add to all the JDM lovin’, he took a step up from the stock Prelude seats by going with a set of S2000 buckets which fit the interior styling nicely. All-in-all, he has created a Prelude that looks great no matter where you are sitting.
Tae still has more plans for his Prelude which include giving the BB a bit of a facelift and also might be bringing boost to the equation soon. No matter what he does, you know that it will be pieced together well and will be with quality parts – just the way a build should be.
Tae would like to add: “Just here to represent a few people: Frank Venezia @ SquareoneDecals.com, Nick DAlessio @ EliteJDM.com, Alex & Ben Nguyen @ LivingDreamautosalon and my homies at Canibeat.com. I’d also like to thank, Kyle Kolke, Jesse Hoover, Travon Dannenburg for helping with the build and also a shout out to all my friends and family who have helped out back home.”
